4. 설립자 배성두 장로의 아들인 배동석 지사는 김해교회 교인으로서,
김해지역의 만세운동을 주도하였다.
모진 고문에도 끝까지 회유당하지 않고 옥고를 치르다가 33세에 순국하셨는데,
두 눈알이 뽑히며 온몸을 불에 달궈진 쇠꼬챙이로 찌르는 고문에도,
신앙의 힘으로 끝까지 견디며 뜻을 굽히지 않았다.
이후 1980년 대통령 표창, 1990년 건국훈장 애족장이 추서되었고,
대전 현충원에 안장되어 있다.
Patriot Bae Dong-seok, the son of the esteemed founder Elder Bae Seong-du, contributed significantly as a member of Gimhae Church and as a leader in the independence movement in Gimhae. He maintained a steadfast stance against Japanese conciliation until his passing in prison at the age of 33. While in prison, his eyeballs were poked out and his body got pierced with red-hot iron skeweres. But his unwavering faith enabled him to endure various forms of severe torture without being shaken.In 1980, he was honored with a presidential citation, and in 1990, he was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation. His final resting place is at Daejeon National Cemetery.

In 1927, a group of church members, led by Pastor Lee Ki-Seon, departed from our church to establish a new congregation, Gimhae Holiness Church (now called Gimhae Jeil Church).

1. 이기선 목사 : 1878년 평안북도 출신으로 1921년 김해읍교회의 3대 목사로 부임했으며, 그 당시 건강 문제로 연희전문을 휴학하고 고향에 온 주기철 목사에게 김해읍교회에 출석하던 안갑수 사모를 소개하고 후에 주례하기도 했던 관계였다. 1950년 신의주에서 공산당에 의해 순교 당한 것으로 추정된다.
Pastor Lee Gi-seon
Born in Pyeonganbuk-do in 1878, he became the third pastor of Gimhae-eup Church in 1921. He introduced Ahn Gap-su, a congregant of Gimhae-eup Church, to Pastor Ju Ki-cheol, a former student of Yeonhi College recuperating at home. Later, he officiated at their wedding. Regrettably, he is belived to have met his demise at the hands of communists in Sinuiju, in 1950.
2. 안갑수 사모는 김해읍교회 출신으로 1917년 이기선 목사의 주례로 주기철 목사와 결혼했다.
Ahn Gap-su, a member of Gimhae Church, married Pastor Ju Gi-cheol in 1917 under the officiant of Pastor Lee Gi-seon.
